About the plan
We’re planning for the future of Fairfield and we’re not doing it alone. Learn all about it right here.
A Roadmap for the Future of Fairfield
This is your opportunity to help shape the future of your community, your neighborhood, your home. A master plan that defines what we have, what we want, and how we’re going to go about getting it.
At heart, we’re talking about a redevelopment plan. We’re a historic city with well-established neighborhoods, civic areas, and commercial districts. But many of those areas are hurting from years — even decades — of disinvestment. How can we bring them new life and, with that, new opportunities for the people of Fairfield?
That’s what we’re going to find out.
A Plan for Planning
To get there, we’ll be starting with a Community Assessment to better understand Fairfield today — our built and natural character, our demographic and economic conditions, our resources and infrastructure, and the history and culture that binds us all together.
With the baseline data in hand, we’ll begin the process of putting a face on it. Getting to know how the basic facts of Fairfield play out in the daily lives of our residents. Through a series of community interviews and public involvement opportunities, the consultant team will better understand Fairfield as you see it. So they can map out a future built around that.
That future will be presented in the form of a community vision and the implementation strategies that can help make it real. In our 2011 Master Plan, we envisioned a vibrant downtown, safe neighborhoods, a regional center for education, and a variety of new, quality of life infrastructure.
Does that vision still hold? What has changed in the ten years since that might affect our perspective, ambitions, or approach?
That’s our challenge at hand and the reason why your participation is so vital to a successful process.
